Celebrating Care Coordinator Appreciation Week
My Journey from Care Coordinator to Regional Director of Operations

By Jewels Malave, Regional Director of Operations
As we celebrate Care Coordinator Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to recognize the key role this position plays in our clinics and the lasting influence it has on our clients and their pets.
When I joined Bond Vet as a Care Coordinator, I quickly embraced the responsibility of creating an outstanding client experience at the front desk. Taking ownership of that experience helped shape my approach to work and guided the direction of my career. I was fortunate to have incredible mentors at Bond who supported me, challenged me, and helped me grow.
From the start, I believed in Bond’s mission, inspired by our founder Zay’s groundbreaking vision for veterinary care. As a Care Coordinator, I had the privilege of being both the first and last face clients saw during their visit. I focused on building meaningful relationships, creating a sense of comfort and trust during every interaction.

Now, as the Regional Director of Operations, I still reflect often on my time in the clinics. The experience I gained in that role continues to influence how I lead, with a strong focus on client care and operational excellence.
Care Coordinators play an essential role in veterinary medicine, serving as the link between our clients and the medical team. They help ease concerns during stressful visits and offer much-needed emotional support. I’ll never forget a client named Elizabeth, who came in worried about her newly rescued pit bull. By taking time to connect with her, I helped turn a stressful situation into a reassuring and positive one. Moments like these show just how meaningful this role is.
This position is often the starting point for those entering the field of veterinary medicine. People come to it from all walks of life, brought together by a shared love for animals. That passion shines through in the way we care for clients and their pets.
For anyone looking to grow in this field, I encourage you to speak up about your goals and take advantage of opportunities to learn and lead. Excelling in the Care Coordinator role can open the door to new possibilities and help you stand out within the organization.
During Care Coordinator Appreciation Week, let’s take time to recognize and thank our Care Coordinators for everything they do. Your commitment and compassion make a real difference every single day!
